Net-Zero Lab Expands Educational Campaign with New Resources on Electricity Market Liberalization

Net-Zero Lab at Sofia University continues its mission to support Bulgarian consumers by raising awareness and improving energy literacy in relation to the ongoing discussions and developments around the liberalization of the electricity market, through the release of new educational videos as part of the “Informed Consumer Choice” campaign.

Following the positive reception of the first videos, which introduced the fundamentals of market liberalization and its impact on households, the newly released materials offer practical guidance and answers to the most frequently asked consumer questions.

The latest videos in the campaign include:

  1. “Types of Offers on the Liberalized Market and Who They Are Suitable For”
Developed in partnership with elca.bg – a digital platform helping business clients compare offers from licensed electricity suppliers.
  2. “Frequently Asked Questions About Electricity Market Liberalization”
Created in collaboration with Greenpeace Bulgaria and elca.bg, this video provides clear, expert-backed responses to common questions and concerns from households facing the upcoming changes.

The campaign aims to empower consumers with relevant knowledge to help them make informed decisions when choosing an electricity supplier, understanding contract terms, and navigating the liberalized market with confidence.

In addition to the video series, Greenpeace Bulgaria has also published a new article as part of its informational campaign “100 Questions About Liberalization,” featuring Dr. Mariya Trifonova, Deputy Director of Net-Zero Lab, who shares her expert perspective on the challenges consumers face in a liberalized electricity market.
