Charting a Course Through the Energy Crisis: Assessing Bulgaria’s Response to Soaring Prices and Outlook on the New EU Market Design

Net-Zero Lab@FEBA is pleased to invite you to a round table discussion on the report titled “Charting a Course Through the Energy Crisis: Assessing Bulgaria’s Response to Soaring Prices and Outlook on the New EU Market Design”. In the past few years, unprecedented global challenges have profoundly affected the energy landscape. As the European Union was recovering from a global pandemic, it encountered a new crisis: soaring energy prices. This crisis also hit Bulgaria, leading to inflation levels four to five times higher than usual, driven by a surge in commodity prices despite wide compensation measures.

The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University initiates a discussion, which aims to explore the regulatory efficiency and impact of price controls. The discussion will bring together experts to share their assessments and analyses of the lessons learned from the recent surge in energy market prices over the past two years, as well as the national and European efforts needed for the regulatory improvement of the internal energy market.

The Round Table will take place on June 21st 2024, 10:00 – 11:30 EEST at Hotel Millennium, Sofia Bulgaria and Online.

The working language of the event is Bulgarian, except for the presentation by Mr. Cillian O’DONOGHUE from Eurelectric, which will be presented in English. Please note that no translation is provided for Mr. O’Donoghue’s presentation.
